The Noise app, which was released with watchOS 6, is capable of measuring the decibels in your environment and issuing a diagnosis with which to know if the noise level can be harmful to your health.

The app is available in the latest stable update of the operating system for Apple smartwatches and in addition to measuring the decibels in situ when you activate it from the watch itself, it can listen in the background and send you notifications when the sound exceeds during a period of time considered healthy, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

To activate these ambient noise notifications, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and press the “My Watch” tab. Then look for the Noise option and choose “Sound Threshold” in it. Here you must select a decibel level. You can choose between, 80, 85, 90, 95, or 100 decibels.

You can also adjust notifications directly from your Apple Watch through Settings> Noise> Noise Notifications. Every time the watch detects that the ambient noise is for a long time above the decibel levels you have chosen, it will send a notification to your wrist and your iPhone.

In addition to notifications of ambient noise, watchOS 6 also allows you to keep track of your fertility and menstrual cycle. It does this through an app called Cycle Tracking that can be managed directly on your  Apple Watch or on your iPhone from the Health application.
